ACHIEVEMENTS & AWARDS

Financial Stewardship: Consistently reduced the city’s milage rate from 6.75 in 2017 to 5.14 in 2025.

BUILDING CAPE CORAL FORWARD

In 2024, Mayor Gunter advocated for and received a $25 million dollar grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. This money was applied to the connection fees for the N1 East & West Utilities Expansion Project, saving each property owner approximately $2,400.00.

Park & Community Amenities

Park Expansion: Completed construction on several new parks, Crystal Lake, Lake Kennedy Racket Center, Del Prado Linear Park, and Joe Coviello Park.

Several Parks to be completed in 2026 include Tropicana Park, Jaycee Park, and Festival Park. The Yacht Club construction will begin in early 2026.

NATURAL DISASTERS

During Mayor Gunter’s tenure on City Council, he has experienced and navigated hurricanes, a nationwide pandemic, and a blue-green algae crisis. Most notably Hurricane Ian (2022) and Hurricanes Milton and Helene (2024). His leadership has focused on immediate emergency response, long-term infrastructure recovery, and navigating complex federal insurance regulations.
